Meeting the Chariot

[Liz has had an irritating few days, her husband has been reduced to a drone and probably forever, and she still was feeling a bit odd from the milk, food just didn't seem appetizing.]

Action: 1128 Taylor

[There is a letter with Liz's name on it which she stuffs into her purse then goes about pruning the bushes, singing something that sounds pretty, but also horrible to anyone who can use magic. Horrible in the whole madness from lost souls way.]

Action: Park

[Liz has decided to open her letter, a single tarot card there bearing the chariot. As she does so a booming voice can be heard saying "I am thou... Thou art I... I come from the storm of the soul bearing thunder from the Chariot!" and a large hammer bearing Norse man appears before vanishing into her]

[It's him!

...no, it's a her. She's him? But --

WHEN IN DOUBT TAKE REFUGE IN MOCKERY.
]

You're awfully polite today, Thor. And petite.

[identity profile] elevatoravatar.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah yes... You speak of the mask I wear... I have made a pact to wear the power of the Thundering God, yet... I am not him. Merely wearing the visage of the Chariot.

[identity profile] putmeinstitches.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[UNLIKE THOR UP THERE, Loki's following what she says. His brows crease.]

Have you, now...

But Thor has no power here. How did you get your hands on -- on this?

[identity profile] elevatoravatar.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, but powers are returned here. The power granted to me from the pact has been returned so I have all regained the ability to channel the strength of his hammer and thunder.

[identity profile] putmeinstitches.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Okay...]

So you've got power from him, but he's got none.

[Loki bursts into laughter. THIS IS THE FUNNIEST THING HE'S HEARD IN MONTHS.]

[identity profile] elevatoravatar.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I have the powers from A Thor... Perhaps not that one. On the world I come from the Gods of old had lost much worship and needed what pacts they could make to keep their legends strong.

[identity profile] putmeinstitches.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh but that's still so good.

[He calms down and stops holding his sides, giving her a grin.]

What can you do with your new powers?

[identity profile] elevatoravatar.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Thor is not an elegant persona... He wields thunder and lightning and he wields his hammer... It is well suited for combat, but, less well suited for other endeavors.

[identity profile] putmeinstitches.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
No kidding. I could count on one hand the number of things he's good for.

[identity profile] elevatoravatar.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Why? He is an expert at smashing.... blasting... bellowing loudly... crushing... charging.... And he looks quite attractive in furs.

[identity profile] putmeinstitches.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll take your word for that last one.

[STRAIGHT, despite the rumors to the contrary]

I count his uses as fighting, hard work, brewing mead, being an easy dupe, and being infinitely exploitable for a meal and a bed.

...though I might have to give you bellowing.

Okay. A little over one hand.

While not my cutest or most versatile persona, Thor is strong and in this place strength is useful. Is it not?

[identity profile] putmeinstitches.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't argue that.

...that's the second time you've called him a "persona." What do you mean by that exactly?

[identity profile] elevatoravatar.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The pact binds the power of a demon or God to the tarot... Thor is the lord of the Chariot, but, power bound to the cards is worn as one wears a mask. My master's master calls it the power of Persona.

A deck of cards that serves the same purpose as your culture's runes...

[identity profile] putmeinstitches.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see.

That's not such a bad idea. They'd be lighter, easier to carry around...not quite so durable, but easier than carving for sure.

[identity profile] elevatoravatar.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It is simply another culture's view of it. But it is what I learned.

[identity profile] putmeinstitches.livejournal.com 2011-09-16 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[So. Contracts with gods bind some of the god's power to paper runes, allowing the one who held the rune to use it. Interesting.

An idea strikes him.
]

Say...it wouldn't be possible to lend me that power, would it?

[identity profile] elevatoravatar.livejournal.com 2011-09-16 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
No... Once the pact has been made the power is only shared between the souls of the pact maker and the power loaner.

The cards themselves are little more than an accessory then. They only matter while the pact is being forged.

[identity profile] putmeinstitches.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Curses. Ah, well, it's still delightful.

[identity profile] elevatoravatar.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
May I perhaps have your name?

[She peers at him and tilts her head a bit]

[identity profile] putmeinstitches.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean you don't know me? You know Thor, but not his old friend? You wound me, miss.

[identity profile] elevatoravatar.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I sensed the power, however, it is rude to assume. I myself am not a champion of your arcana so I was not able to make the proper pact as I was with the Thunderer and I find it rude to just give name without allowing one to introduce one self as they see fit.

[identity profile] putmeinstitches.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. Well, I'd best get it out of the way, then. I am Loki, son of Laufey, god of chaos, lies and diversions, and I am very pleased to meet you.

[A sweeping bow.]
