Elizabeth had been watching the identity crises that had been happening for the week and firstly, she was not suffering through one being spared the fake identity, secondly her own identity was something she was still figuring out so it all seemed odd to her. Still many people were upset, so she had given it some time before posing her question.

"People of this place, I admit that being spared some of the more odd parts of living the lie that was pushed on us a few weeks ago I am uncertain how to ask this but I shall try."

She takes a breath and nods.

"What about you is defined by you internally, and what about you is defined by the world around you? Is it all one? Is that why the previous lie was so difficult for many to see, or is there something different, like the fire that was stoked in many by the spirits that ran rampant when I came here? I myself am a bit confused by all of this and would appreciate any help. That and while I no longer have access to the many rewards for assistance from home and can offer little more than appreciation for help, still hope that kindness is a form of currency that has not been erased from this place."

There was no judgement or accusation in his voice, just mild curiosity.

Yeah, them. I had no memory of my powers at the time, and then my Persona just responded. I didn't know what was going on or what to expect.

Perhaps they didn't have family before that lie? Even the prettiest goldfish can hide among the dullest of sea rubbish, eh. If they made something good come out of that mayhem, more power to them I suppose.

"No, I am saying my life with mortals is too new to have acquired anything. I simply have my goal and persona."

"So it is the wings. They are a conduit to the person's body and this has nothing to do with the forces of order and chaos. Things here are rather different from where I come from."

Sorry, but... are you Margaret's sister?

"Don't get mushy about it. It's just practical. And self-interested." Because really, she's not going to sit here claiming she wants to rescue everyone. She just wants to go home herself.

I never had that problem myself, since I was adopted by my father so many years ago, that I take it almost for granted, but it makes me want to reinforce what I do have, not lose it. For someone who never had that, I can understand the desire.

"Then, what is your goal?"

"To free my friend from an eternity of being the wall that keeps mankind's destructive urges from causing its oblivion."

"I have had my brother and sister, but since it was just us and the master I never really gave it thought either. Though I do wonder how they are doing. I have not seen them since I left and given their nature have been unsure if returning to see them would end in tragedy."

"I am. I believe we have met before in that competition with the bear."

She nods a little.

"You were my sister's guest then?"

The will to survive was something basic and primal, something Elizabeth ACTUALLY UNDERSTOOD so she saw nothing wrong with it.

"There is nothing wrong with enlightened self interest. It is how one survives after all."

Oh, yes. That.

[His own folly. The woman was confusing.]

...What exactly did you mean by 'persona', like what you said before?

"Persona, the mask we wear to face the world given power. Some only wear one, others can wear many. I myself have just realized how to wear my own instead of borrow those of my guest."

"A mask given power..."

The idea of it felt oddly familiar, as if he had already encountered the concept somehow.

"Can you give any examples?"

"In person I could. Not over this device. Some things are best experienced as opposed to merely told about."

There's nothing wrong with survival at all. Daria just has that nagging feeling she probably wouldn't really be able to ditch everyone. At least, if she had a way to get them out, too, or something.

"Survives, and goes home, I hope. Sometime, at least."

End in tragedy? [Little concerned.]

"Most things are. But, I'm not against arranging something for the future...if we're not toyed with again."

He knew in his bones that this wasn't nearly the end. They would continually be toyed with, and he would resent it and try to reject it every time.
