The Tower crossing a Reversed Queen of Swords

[Action 1] On random streets

[Elizabeth has just found Minato's body, she's moving kind of erratically, her face is pale (ok, its always pale) but her eyes are no longer dancing.  If you speak magic, she's saying a doozy in Lost Carcosan, if you don't speak magic those words would unnerve just about anyone.  Odds are she's not paying attention to you, but if you move towards her, she'll fluidly have a knife pulled and glare at you not looking quite right.]

[Action 2] 948 Beulah St!

[Elizabeth has just sat down on the stairs of a random house, she's not really paying attention, the knife is sitting at her side, she's stopped muttering in that horrible language, but she's muttering about a cell phone to call herself with.]

[ Is that... Elizabeth? ]

[ Souji sees the Velvet Room attendant. He fails to recognize her in her even gloomier state. He also doesn't realize she's staggering and she's also muttering dark, ominous words. With no reservation he runs to her.

Unfortunately Souji does not know that Minato died. Also unfortunately he does not know that Elizabeth will lash out at anyone who approaches her so closely, much like he is. ]

[Her eyes unfocused, there is a knife in her hand before Souji gets within 10 feet]

"...The seal is dead. Humanity is dead."

[ Souji freezes in his tracks. THe visual cue of Elizabeth holding her knife set forth a series of motions all working faster than the man could cognitively process it. In a matter of mere tenths of a second Souji shifted all of his weight to the balls of his feet, his hand was drawing his sword while the other took up a defensive block position as he lowered his body. ]

E-Elizabeth! What are you saying?

"Dead... Minato... The seal... 5 billion condemned to Nyx's embrace. Because they fell for this town's ruse."

"You will bring me a cellular phone."

Minato?

[ Souji's breath was caught in his throat again. Minato died? Of all of the nicest, most genuine people he met in Mayfield, why Minato? He would have dwelled on more, certainly a lot more, when Souji is in the confines of darkness, when he is truly alone. But now... ]

... Hey. Elizabeth.

[ He lowered his hand from the sword and the other in a form shielding his body turned into an outstretched hand. Slowly, cautiously, ever carefully, he took a step forward. ]

[She raises the knife again twitching]

"Back. I know not who has fallen to Erebus' will. Until obtain my goal it is wise to remain distant."

[ Souji stops. He doesn't take a step back though. ]

Elizabeth. I'm me. I don't know who or what Erubus is but I promise you, I'm still Souji Seta. Your sister invested her time, effort and most importantly her belief in me that I will set things straight, and I'm still that same Souji Seta Margaret trusts and cares deeply for.

[ The feeling of when Souji stared down Izanami as she virtually wiped him, his friends and the planet with shadows struck him and reverberated in his core. Souji took another step forward, walking to her again. With the fragmented bits of knowledge, he takes a bold step in his deductions. ]

Is Minato a seal of some sort?

"I left the room... To rescue him from an eternity as the seal is why I left... Now... Pointless... Joker can fix this."

"And what if Minato comes back tomorrow?"

[ Now within five feet. ]

"Just like everyone else?"

[ He takes another step forward. ]

[ One, final step. He is literally standing in front of Elizabeth. Slowly, cautiously, he brings both of his hands up and grasps her forearms. He squeezes softly, but it would be difficult to interpret this as hostile action. ]

See through this game! Our captors are toying with us! Find the truth, Elizabeth!

[ He felt Margaret as he said those words to Elizabeth as Margaret said onto him, along with the sudden surge of nostalgia. ]

"I am of the darkness... We of the velvet room never truly get to frolic in the light, we stand in the shadows to provide a sign post to the deepest of the darkness. For a brief moment I was allowed to bask in all of noon's glory, but gave that up, for to succumb to my desire would mean the end of humanity. Now the greed of a few for the dark whisperings of this place have rendered all that meaningless."

"I am human but to quote a poet of yours... If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us shall we not revenge?"

[ The hurt is obvious to see. It was mortifying, seeing someone from the Velvet Room so disturbed like this, capable of such intense emotion. He speaks carefully. ]

Revenge to who? Another person captured, like us, and coerced to play this murder game?

[ More clues fall into place. Elizabeth's passion to be with Minato. This event using worst fears and what one desires most from the census. All of the admissions he just witnessed. He takes another bold deductive step forward. ]

... Does it look like your worst fear has been realized?

"Captured or not... To those who would feed Erebus. The beast... I can feel it near, yet can not fight it alone. To become one with oblivion may be the only way to destroy hopelessness. It is my last option."

[ He lets go. Begrudgingly, but the tightening grasp on her forearms relax. He takes a step back. ]

All of humanity are the children of Nyx. Nyx is a god, overlording the domain of death?

"Yes... She is. Watching over us as we sleep Nyx slumbers herself, both waiting for and dreading the day the seal will be destroyed and bring forth oblivion to man. Though he knows it not, Minato is tasked with becoming a replacement to that seal after shortsighted fools broke it with the belief it would escalate them to godhood. Now he is gone. Now his contract will remain unfulfilled."

I'm one year in the future from Minato. Nyx hasn't revealed herself since humanity is still thriving as ever, which means he fulfilled his contract... Elizabeth I've fought Izanami-no-Okami. She is a goddess who earnestly believed that humanity wanted to destroy itself with all of our negative emotion. My friends and I showed her--stopped her--because we never gave up hope to live. If she dreads to destroy humanity, can we not show Nyx our hope?

"Nyx was shown hope. And Nyx even said that were the seal not broken, she would love to see mankind grow with that hope. She can not control what she is which is why she sleeps. It is Erebus that claws for her awakening now that the seal was restored..."

Izanami I feel also cannot be stopped forever. But if she feels like humanity wants to overrun itself with shadows, I'll be there to stop it and persuade her otherwise. If Erebus comes, I will help and not take "No" for an answer. It may be your impossible task, but for now it's not yours alone to bear.
