A Fool and the World; Video

Elizabeth had been watching the identity crises that had been happening for the week and firstly, she was not suffering through one being spared the fake identity, secondly her own identity was something she was still figuring out so it all seemed odd to her. Still many people were upset, so she had given it some time before posing her question.

"People of this place, I admit that being spared some of the more odd parts of living the lie that was pushed on us a few weeks ago I am uncertain how to ask this but I shall try."

She takes a breath and nods.

"What about you is defined by you internally, and what about you is defined by the world around you? Is it all one? Is that why the previous lie was so difficult for many to see, or is there something different, like the fire that was stoked in many by the spirits that ran rampant when I came here? I myself am a bit confused by all of this and would appreciate any help. That and while I no longer have access to the many rewards for assistance from home and can offer little more than appreciation for help, still hope that kindness is a form of currency that has not been erased from this place."

"Do we all not start as one? Wild Cards are Fools on a journey, one day they become the world, or in one case the Universe, and they learn from the other arcana, but they are not slaves to them."

[Again, that was true; he'd already seen how that worked. Did this mean she was at the start of her journey? It must be hard... it didn't seem like she would have an easy time bonding with others... maybe? Hm... he'd need to get to know her better.]

[...but what happens when a Fool bonds with another Fool? Interesting.]

[What else she said caught his attention though:]

Universe?

[That sounded pretty heavy... he wondered what that person had to do to get that arcana.]

"When the world needs to surpass the Earthly sometimes they draw upon the universe to become something greater. Something that can perhaps stop a god, or at least keep one from going too far. The only problem is the universe becomes more than mortal and all mortal attachments are lost in the process."

[Yu took an extra long moment to process what that meant. This obviously happened some time before, otherwise he's not sure if this would have even come up. Suddenly what he had gone through sounded almost insignificant in comparison.]

Elizabeth... was the Universe ever needed before?

"Once... Or twice... Depending if you count an unfortunate incident of trying to recreate a smell that was used before I came to be. Before you were every my sister's guest I had two guests. Or three, it is complicated unless you have looked into infinity. One or two of them became the universe."

She looks down a bit.

"The story is entwined with my leaving the velvet room, however I do not believe your destiny to be involved with it."

[And... he barely followed a word of that. But the last part was pretty clear: "It's none of your business", more or less. Curiosity was gnawing at him though; he really needed to see if a social link with her could be possible.]

I understand.

She eyes him oddly for a minute, not entirely convinced. However she doesn't want to go into magics that split reality or her thoughts about a certain afternoon where she could have left earlier, so she simply nods.

"Margaret never found the story interesting so I will assume it is not."

It sounds interesting to me, but if you don't want to talk about it, I won't pry.

[He's still curious though.]
