Time was something that was still somewhat of an enigma to Elizabeth. She had some experience with it, but this place and the multiple timelines had her confused. That and somehow deep inside of her she awoke with a fear that it may be a resource that could be wasted and she may suddenly be wasting it here she was looking for some answers.

"I was wondering, as I have met The Sister Complex Kingpin of Steel and he did not remember it. Were I to meet the others I challenged in the TV would that also be the case? Would Captain Ressentiment still be a wage slave and hero by night here? Has the Carnivore who Discarded womanhood discarded it yet? Has the Unconquerable Snow Black even begin to search for her prince? Have the roses of the Bloodcurdling Beefcake Emperor been planted yet? Has the 2000 IQ Killjoy Detective even begun to challenge the army of idiots? I know not which one of them even won the title of manliest of men and would like to ask. I know that we should be from the same time, yet it seems as if we are not."

"Time it seems is my greatest source of confusion here. It moves forward and some charge ahead as if it is a fleeting ghost, yet others simply sit and bide it, content to wait things out. I am not certain how I should look at it, and how it will aid or hurt my own quest. To those who have always lived with the clock chasing them, what is the best way of dealing with it? While Erebus and Chronos were both Titans, one seems more to be a natural order of things, or is moving to strike one down going to meet resistance from the others?"

She shakes her head and looks down a bit, letting out a small breath.

"Also, does this place get into your mind and make you feel in ways you have no experience with?"

"That ultimately is what I left the Velvet Room to understand, to find a way to slay that titan and free the man who holds it at bay so that Nyx may remain sleeping. Still, were it only as simple as cutting the beast in half, but nothing easy is worth much I have seen."

"On my world yes. There seem to be so many different ones here though."

Many different what? Worlds?

"Yes, here alone I have seen people from over a dozen such places. Ones not threatened by Erebus and Nyx, once with magic, ones with no magic, ones where humans are avatars, ones where there are no humans."

[Voice]

Oh... I don't know if my world has Erebus, Chronos or Nyx, but it does have titans. That's why we live inside the walls.

[It feels so odd, having to clarify this. It always seemed so normal for people to be cooped up inside walls. To think, humanity doesn't have to live like that in other worlds...]

"Have the Gods not yet bound the titans to their dark and secret places, or are there no Gods to do this and you must stand alone against oblivion?"

Gods, huh? The only thing close to that is the three Goddesses who were supposed to have built the walls to protect humanity. Rose, Maria and Sina is what they're called. There's not that many people who really believe in that story, but the priests from the Religion of the Walls swear it's true. Heh, they can get pretty fanatic about it, too.

[For only a split second, Marco's thinking of those fanatic priests. Then, the image is replaced by Eren. A boy who believes firmly that they can defeat all the titans. Mr. 'Death Drive' himself, who transformed into a raging monster before their very eyes. A monster, or perhaps a god-like savior.]

Yeah, that sounds about right. Whichever it turns people into, I just hope they'll help free humanity from the reign of the titans.

[Marco's taking the word "fool" very literally right now. Not that it matters; it's another good way to describe Eren, honestly.]

Then, do you believe that there's really such a thing as fate? That everything happens because it was destined to happen?

"I believe that while destiny can be a map of roads for one to take, the individual ultimately is the one who chooses which road they must walk along. Were that not the case Law and Chaos would not war, for Law would have all ready won."

[Hmm, this conversation sure is starting to get philosophical.]

I guess that makes sense. That means it's just a matter of choosing the right path to reach the best fate, isn't it?

"The definition of the best can be rather tricky though, for my own trial what would be best could be what is simplest, what does the least amount of harm, what could be done with the power at my finger tips. Each has its own positive and negatives."

Then, maybe the 'best' path is the one that's best for other people too.

"Yes, that is what I suspected. Sadly that is the much more difficult path."

I think it's worth trying if it helps other people too. Who knows? Maybe those others can help you achieve your goal.

Your first guest, huh? Just what is it that you do?

"My master was the one who presided over the power of gods and men. I documented the powers one had and if needed I retrieved powers that were cast aside in favor of others. However that feels as if it were a long time ago."

[Most of what Elizabeth's saying doesn't make much sense to him. Presiding over powers of men is already mindboggling, but what sort of person would preside over the powers of gods? Would that make her master above a god, or is it a manner of speech?]

... What sort of powers?

"Not every mortal can or should have great powers. Contracts are required, and the powers need to understand what being loaned can do. Also those gaining them must understand the powers that they have at their fingertips are not free and frequently do come with a terrible cost."

Oh... I see. [That wasn't really what he was asking, but the answer makes him feel he's probably better off not knowing specific details.]

That sounds like a difficult job you have, then.

She shrugs a bit, "Striking out on my own has been far far more difficult. My duties were dictated, listed, ordered. My own quest is lost in the seas of mystery. How does one destroy a beast that is clawing at a wall when the beast is regenerated by despair? This is a far more vexing issue."
